Thank you for sharing your story Sherri...I had not heard of this before either...One thing I have learned in life....God is good all the time and everything has a purpose...even those we will never understand in this life. May His richest blessings be yours.

I love all the Mule Hollow and Dry Creek books. I've started collecting them years ago but have moved several times. I'm startin my collection again and can't wait to read them again. These types of inspirational books never grow old.

These strong women are someone I want to be like. I don't see myself that way but it's something to strive for. Five years ago I lost my job. Six months after that I lost my home. That's the first home I bought myself after my divorce. That loss was very heartbreaking to me. I've hung onto my van by pray alone because there were months that I was afraid I would walk outside to go to work and the van not be there. I'm finally caught back up on the payments and have been for almost a year. I have 9 more payments on it. Praise the Lord. My credit is still a mess. I live in an apartment that is absolutely horrible from the noisy neighbors all night long to the cigarete smoke that seeps in through the vents. But, I have had this job for over three years, (while it's not the best I'm still working and I'm grateful for what it is until God leads me somewhere else), I have a church home that I love, I'm going back to school at 50 years old (what have I done)? LOL.

The best thing I can tell someone who has been through a crisis of any kind is "Pray it through". Call on the only name that can overcome anything and that is where you'll find your peace.

The words of encouragement I find within these wonderful books have helped me hold onto my faith when even some Churches couldn't help. I have a great church home now though. Surround yourself with the people God wants you to associate with and borrow strength from them when you can't find your own. They'll borrow from you from time to time as well.

Thanks Ms. Clopton for the wonderful books you write. Thanks for the sense of fellowship, fun and encouragement you offer to all of us.

Please continue to write. I promise I'll continue to read and reread them.

Blessings to you and all your readers.

I think that the stories that my grandparents told are part of why I write. (My sister says that she is devoted to genealogy for the same reason.) One day, I would like to write as much of their story as I know.

How kind you are, Jane. Whatever you are going through, I am praying for you. God is so good, even when we are suffering. When my first husband died, I remember how insulted I was when a well-meaning soul said to me that God would somehow work out that tragedy for my good. Now, having been married to the man, literally, of my dreams for 36 good years, I know that to be true. In a perfect world, it would never have happened in this way, but this world is not perfect. This world is so IMperfect that it is difficult for us to see any good outcome when we are in the midst of misery, but God knows that, and He already has a plan set in motion. Hang in there, dear. God bless you.

You were blessed! And yes, I remember those Alka-Seltzer jars. Grandma didn't cut her biscuits, though. She made "wet" biscuits and squeezed them off in palm-sized globs. Into a pan glistening with bacon fat! LOL Boy, were those great.

It's odd, isn't it? We think that we have a corner on dysfunction and difficulty, but in truth, people have always had problems. We just heard and read more about it now, I think. Imagine. Having 15 or 16 children would be more than almost any couple could handle now; it would literally have been a killer in a less "convenient" era.

Thanks, Roxanne. And let me add that you're a great friend, a great mom and that you had a great mom, Arline. She is enjoying her reward now we know.

I am a day late here, but when I saw mention of of a chance to give tribute to mothers and mentors, I just had to stop by with my thanks to Lyn for being a wonderful, dear friend, and also the most wonderful, generous mentor. You are the best, Lyn. God bless!

An author I have read and loved and even reviewed. I never knew all this about you. As I am going through some tough issues right now, I believe I was suppose to read this today. God Bless
