The Wedding Quilt Bride

Marta Perry

Provided by Love Inspired

THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE is the second book in the Brides of Lost Creek series by Marta Perry. Rebecca is back at her family home after her husband has passed away. She is with her young son, Lige, who is very shy and doesn't talk much since his dad died. Almost immediately after she gets back, she runs in to her old childhood friend, Daniel. Both Rebecca and Daniel have secrets and lots of guilt and all of that holds them back from speaking their minds. Daniel tries to help Rebecca, but she wants to stand on her own and help Lige become the boy he used to be. He has seen so much in his young life and Rebecca is afraid he will be scarred for life. Once she has her quilt shop up and running, she hopes life will be much better for both of them.

Rebecca and Daniel used to be best friends when they were growing up, but now it is as if they are walking on egg shells around each other. Rebecca is ashamed of what she endured in her marriage and hasn't told anyone the real story of what went on between her and her abusive husband. THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE teaches Rebecca that the whole community is behind her and wants to help her if only she would let them. Daniel is dealing with the guilt of his little brother jumping the fence into the Englisch world and not being able to stop him. Neither of these situations were their doing, but they can't seem to let the guilt go and move on.

THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE is about Rebecca coming home and trying to explain to her family what happened in her marriage. As secrets are uncovered I was holding my breath, praying everything would work out in the end for Rebecca and Daniel. Flashbacks to when they were teenagers give the reader a taste of what they were like back then and what they were going through. Brilliant Marta Perry, just brilliant! She made me sad, then the next moment I was smiling and giggling out loud! I'm so excited to continue with this series. You can never go wrong with a Marta Perry book if you are a fan of the Amish genre. THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE is a heart tugging story that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Will Lige ever be able to trust again after all he has witnessed between his parents? Your heart is going to break for this little lost boy. Once I started this heartwarming story, it was very hard to put down!

Rebecca Mask was back home again with her 6 year old son, Elijah. She became a widow when her husband James Mask lost his life in an accident. Rebecca may have returned home to be with her family but she was no longer the same person Daniel had known in his growing up years.
Daniel King wanted to help Rebecca and Elijah get settled into their new home but she was very independent and wanted to stand on her own feet. Growing up Rebecca and Daniel had been best of friends but now he didn't know this new person she had become in her years away from home. Daniel himself had changed too. His brother Aaron had jumped the fence and Daniel felt he had somehow let him down. He had shut himself off from others because he felt incapable of helping anyone .
What happened to Rebecca during her years away from her family, to cause this change in her personality? Why was little Elijah so drawn into himself and afraid of strangers. Cringing when anyone spoke loudly. Had James Mask been a abusive husband and father? Will Daniel , Rebecca and Elijah be able to move on from their past hurts to trust others enough to let them have a place in their lives? Can Daniel and Rebecca rekindle their friendship from the past?
I loved the cover of this book. I admit This reader usually is pulled towards a book if it has a nice cover. The story between the covers did not disappoint . This is not the first book I've read by Marta Perry and I'm familiar with her writing style. The story was about how a family and community welcomed one of their own back home again. Patiently they let Rebecca heal at her own pace. They were always there for her when she needed a helping hand even though she didn't always welcome the help. Even Daniel , hurting as he was, reached out to her whether she wanted his help or not.
I won an Arc copy of The Wedding Quilt Bride from a giveaway the author gave. I was not asked to give a positive review and I have been honest with how I felt about the book. Readers of Amish Fiction and fans of Marta Perry will enjoy this book. I highly recommend it.

This sweet book had everything I wish for in an Amish romance. A comforting sense of community, strong family loyalty, and a blossoming love from a childhood friendship. I loved how Rebecca and Daniel warmed up to each other quickly even though they had both changed as time had passed. They brought out the best in each other and Daniel helped Rebecca remember what the support of loving friends and family looked like. She struggled with accepting the unconditional help, but as she began to slowly open up to those she trusted, she was able to let go of her past and see that she is not alone. The chemistry between Rebecca and Daniel is great and it was fun to see them move from friends to more. Reading this book gave me a warm feeling and I recommend it to fans of Amish fiction!

The Wedding Quilt Bride was a sweet tale of learning to trust again and learning to love again. I so enjoyed watching as Rebecca and Daniel grew to be friends again and eventually more. It wasn’t an easy journey for either of them. They both carried guilt and were weighed down with doubts.

There were a lot of interesting characters in this story, and although this was book two in a series, it stood alone just fine. Now I want to go back and read the first book in the series and learn more about the two main characters in that book! The Wedding Quilt Bride tackled some tough issues, yet managed to remain an uplifting story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I must first say that Marta Perry is a very dear friend; however, that doesn't mean I can't write an honest review of her work. If I didn't like her books, I wouldn't review them. BUT I ALWAYS LIKE HER BOOKS! And this one is no exception. Her characters are primarily Amish of course in this story but they could have been anyone. The conflict revolves around their pasts and what they "think" is true. Which turns out not to be as true as they thought. :-) Rebecca married in haste and has an unhappiness she won't-can't reveal and Daniel also carries false ideas. Fortunately God keeps pushing them out of their "comfort" areas (don't think Amish have zones.'-) Anyway a sweet spirit-filled romance I enjoyed A LOT!

This is an emotive second chance romance involving two people who had grown up as best friends but have had years apart. Rebecca had returned to her home community after the death of her husband. She has a six year old son, Elijah, and is determined to use her skills to enable her to be independent bringing him up. Daniel King used to be her best friend and is determined to help her settle into her new home, using his carpentry skills to help create the quilt shop she is endeavouring to set up. However, their easy camaraderie has disappeared and they are more like strangers in many ways. Elijah is also very wary of strangers and shouts seem to terrify him. Daniel isn’t the same, either, after his younger brother chose to leave the Amish way of life and Daniel feels responsible for this. Can they overcome their past to give their friendship and mutual attraction a chance to develop? Can they learn to trust each other?

This is a delightful story showing how the whole community, including her family, welcome back Rebecca and her son. They are so supportive, helpful and considerate - even when she is so reticent to accept it. It is a heartwarming story with great characters, some surprises along the way and a lovely romance. It is a story about learning to trust again in yourself, those you love and in God. I’d love to see some of the beautifully describe wedding quilts. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys Amish romances - and if you’ve never read any, this would be a good one to try! I’ll certainly be looking out for more by this author and in this series in future!

I requested and was lucky enough to be given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

The last book I chose to read was THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE and it was so good. I fell in love with Daniel and Rebecca and sweet little Lige and wanted them to find happiness. This was one of the better Love Inspired romances I've ever read and I'm glad I had an opportunity to read it.

Rebecca is a quilt maker, owns a quilt / fabric shop and is struggling to make it alone but with close family and old friends, like it or not, people want to help her. She also wants to keep her past secret, but family know.

Daniel is hurting because his brother left the Amish and he thinks he failed him. He has closed his heart to love, but his old friend Rebecca still holds a piece of his heart. Sweet Lige steals it.

If you like Amish romances, you will love Marta Perry's book THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE.

The Wedding Quilt Bride was a sweet, easy read. I liked the characters and how the romance was a second-chance story...It was nice to see them get another chance at love.

The writing was fine and it was easy to follow the storyline. I found the ending a bit quick, but it wasn't too bad.

All in all, a good read and I think fans of Amish romance will enjoy it.

Astonishingly good! Maybe my favourite by Marta Perry. I think it's the way this story revolves around community that tugged at my heart. Extending a hand and, more importantly, being willing to accept the help of others, plays over and over again in this story in so many beautiful, moving ways.

Daniel and Rebecca were never sweethearts but they were good friends until Rebecca moved away to marry. During their time apart, they've both lived through personal tragedies, both harboring secrets that hold them back from courting.

Rebecca isn't the carefree, high-spirited girl Daniel remembers from his childhood. She's inexplicably guarded and tense but Daniel catches unexpected glimpses of the easygoing girl he used to know. I love how this romance grows from sweet childhood memories. There's a wariness in both hero and heroine but so much tenderness as well. These two are challenged in ways that draw them together and it's their faith that ultimately allows them to create something enduring and beautiful -- just like the quilts Rebecca makes.

Can two people who have been hurt by life and their beliefs come together as more than friends?
The author has given us a glimpse into Amish life from a different angle, as we journey through the hurts and upsets that have been heaped on them by life and the actions of others.
We are given a new beginning for a mother and her young son, and we get to see the building of a quilt shop, which if it were near me I would be using, and we see the giving spirit of an old friend.
Can even the young child overcome all that has happened, and move on with a fruitful life? We get to watch this through the words of the author, and you will be quickly turning the pages to get to the outcome.

I received this book through the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.

I loved this sweet story and endearing characters in, The Wedding Quilt Bride. Rebecca Mast and her little boy, Elijah return to her home childhood in Lost Creek to be with her family after the death of her husband. Lige (Elijah) stole my heart from the beginning and I loved how he bonded with, Daniel.

Daniel and Rebecca have known each other since they were both young and he wants to help her realize her dream of opening a quilt shop, the only problem is, Rebecca is a changed person and she is more self-reliant now. Daniel isn’t the same person that he was either. The both have had challenges in their lives.

This isn’t a story where the characters fall in love within the first couple of chapters, which I enjoyed. I liked getting to know them separately and finding out what made them the people that they became through the years. I got interested in both of their lives and what choices they made or were going to make.

There was so much to like about this book from the endearing characters to the well written story of two people who have the experienced hurts and disappointments and most of all the prospect of second chances.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and was under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE by Marta Perry is a second chance romance that brings widow Rebecca Mast back to to hometown after the death of her husband. Rebecca returns to family with her shy son Lige at her side and a dream to make a life beyond what she endured before.

With the help of local carpenter, Daniel King, Rebecca's dream of owning a quilt shop become a reality, what she didn't have in mind, was her feelings for Daniel and the realization that Lige was blossoming with Daniel's guidance and friendship.

Rebecca and Daniel have secrets and emotional woes to overcome before they can even grasp moving on, but time in each other's company eases the way for good things .

THE WEDDING QUILT BRIDE by Marta Perry is a wonderful tale of redemption and love. It is a solid and very well written story and I highly recommend this memorable tale.

Rebecca and Daniel’s story was a lovely read with true to life issues. Daniel had a way with Rebecca’s son, Elijah, which was touching. Rebecca wanted to make it on her own, when she returned home but struggled with her late husband’s brother not following through with payments as agreed upon in a contract for the farm in Ohio. Rebecca didn’t want her past to be known to Daniel and Daniel didn’t want to share all he had experienced while Rebecca was gone. Will they be able to overcome the past with God’s healing their hearts and disappointments to bring smiles and sharing secrets as they had in their younger days?

I received this book from a friend. I was not required to write a review but have shared my own thoughts.

The Wedding Quilt Bride by Marta Perry is the second story in Brides of Lost Creek series. Rebecca Mast has returned home to Lost Creek with her six-year-old son, Elijah. Rebecca lost her husband, James six months ago and sold her farm to her brother-in-law, John. The down payment she received will finance her new home and the remodeling of the front room for her quilt shop. Rebecca hires her childhood friend, Daniel King to carry out her vision. Daniel is happy to have his friend back, but he notices that she is not the same. She is withdrawn, thin, pale and seems haunted. Daniel is hoping that over time Rebecca will trust him and confide in him. While working on the shop with Rebecca, Daniel begins to fall in love with his friend. But then Rebecca receives a letter that could derail her plans for the shop. Rebecca is determined to stand on her own two feet. Can Daniel get Rebecca to accept his help and that of her community? Will Rebecca be able to overcome the past?

The Wedding Quilt Bride is well-written and an engaging novel. I was drawn into the story and it held my attention. There are beautiful descriptions of quilts in the story. Ms. Perry brought the quilts alive with her words. The story is told from Rebecca and Daniel’s perspectives. While Rebecca is trying to overcome her past, Daniel is dealing with guilt. His brother, Aaron “jumped the fence” is Daniel feels responsible for him leaving the Amish. There are great characters in the story. They are warm and welcoming. Rebecca has a loving and supportive family. The Wedding Quilt Bride is a complex story with unexpected surprises. There are several themes in the story, but my favorite is everyone deserves a second chance. We are far from perfect, and we will inevitably make mistakes. We need to trust in God and let Him guide us. I like that the author portrays life realistically. Life is full of hills and valleys. There are good people and there are those who will try to take advantage of you. While The Wedding Quilt Bride is the second novel in Brides of Lost Creek series, it stands on its own (I look forward to reading the first book when I have an opportunity). The Wedding Quilt Bride is a heartwarming story that will hold you captive until you finish the last word.

The Wedfing Quilt Bride is the second heartwarming story written by Marta Perry in her Brides of Lost Creek series. This is such an emtionally written story and the author has developed the perfect characters to tell her story. The cover is wonderful and definetly plays a part in this story.

I enjoyed all the characters so much. Rebecca is an emtional wreck but determined to make a new life for her son. Daniel thinks he is not capable of loving someone without hurting them. Everyone rallies around these two to open a quilt shop for Rebecca and the results are amazing. The author uses great descriptions throughout the entire story which keeps the readers interest.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others. I look forward to the third book in this series.

Congratulations to Marta Perry for writing another fantastic story for her readers to enjoy.

After the death of her husband James, Rebecca Mast returns home to her Amish community with her six-year-old son Elijah, “Lige,” in tow. It doesn’t take long for her childhood friend Daniel King to realize that she’s not the same person she was a few years ago. It’s apparent that something happened to while she was gone, but he’s not quite sure what. Lige is withdrawn, especially around strangers. He wants to help her get settled, along with helping her set up her quilt shop, but Rebecca is independent and wants to do it on her own. Can she come to realize that it’s okay to accept help and trust another man?

It’s easy to connect with the characters in this book where love, faith, healing, and redemption are key themes.

The single mom’s second chance… To become one of the Brides of Lost Creek!
Widow Rebecca Mast returns to her Amish community with her son and a dream—to own a quilt shop. Carpenter Daniel King is determined to help Rebecca and revive their childhood friendship. But as he bonds with her son
, Rebecca’s afraid the secret she’s been keeping will be revealed. Can Daniel convince Rebecca he’s a man she can trust—and love?
This is Rebecca Mast and Daniel King's story.
“When I came back, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t lean on anyone else. I would stand on my own two feet.” “Nothing wrong with that,” Daniel said, “except that it’s not the Amish way.We help one another, as you know very well.
Her six-year old son, trudged next to her, holding tight to her hand rather than skipping and hopping ahead down the lane like one of his cousins would.
Daniel crossed the distance between them and stood smiling at her. “What’s wrong? Can’t find anything else to say?” His voice teased her gently. And you don’t turn down otherjobs to work for me.”
“I remember she went away that summer—out to Ohio to help a cousin of hers who was moving. She stayed quite a time, and then we heard she’d met someone and was going to marry him.”
We’d always been such gut friends, but she didn’t write to me about him at all.”
Can Daniel convince Rebecca he’s a man she can trust and love? read this book to find out.

The Wedding Quilt Bride by Marta Perry

My review is 4.5 Stars

While I often equate the Amish with a close-knit community and families that stand up for one another, I don’t believe I have read another Amish book that highlights this as much or as well as The Wedding Quilt Bride. Author Marta Perry has done such a beautiful job of showing how families can work together to support and care for one another in this lovely book.

I was so touched by the kind way Daniel treated Lige, Rebecca’s son. (His full name is Elijah, so I imagine the nickname is pronounced like that.) While he was amazing with children in general, the scene when they first met and he worked so hard, yet so naturally, to draw a smile from the young boy also brought a smile to my face. His strong sense of responsibility and protectiveness towards those he loves made him quite endearing.

Rebecca had such a hard time allowing herself to rely on others or to allow them to help after the pain she endured in her marriage, including the way her in-laws responded to her needs. The response of her own family and the community to her was so beautiful. I loved seeing them help her set up her shop. And then on the day the quilt shop opened, not only showing up but buying things they didn’t necessarily need.

This story stands on its own, and yet had hints of a new story to come. I do hope that the next book will be about Daniel’s little brother. I would love to know how his story ends.

I have long enjoyed a good story by Marta Perry. I have read several of her Amish fiction books and have enjoyed her writing. In The Wedding Quilt Bride, I was curious how she would reconcile two people: one who had suffered trauma and another who felt he wasn’t able to keep a family together. That’s no minor feat, considering it had to happen in only 212 pages!

Lige, Rebecca’s son, has to be one of my favorite characters. Having seen and heard things that he shouldn’t have had to at his age, he has to learn to trust again. That doesn’t come easily for him, but when he meets Daniel, he begins to heal. Another favorite character of mine was Rebecca’s father. I loved seeing the protective side in such a sweet way. It reminded me of my own dad when he would see things that I never saw.

Rebecca has to learn to get her spunk back after having it all disapper at the hands of her first husband. She slowly learns how to stand up for herself despite the things that she has faced. Daniel has to come to realize that people make their own decisions and that he can’t change people and their choices.

The book itself is predictable, but it is still a nice, summer read. You could easily read this book in a day out on the beach!

The Love Inspired books are always so fun to read, and they are the perfect size to tuck away in your purse. My personal favorite has been the Love Inspired Historical adventrues, but it was nice to read a story from the main Love Inspired series. This story is set in Amish country and follows the life of Rebecca Mast. The reader finds Rebecca trying to discover a new path in a life, yet this new path is one from her past. Therefore, one hopes no complications will arise, yet difficulties seem to pop up anyway. Will the comforts of home be enough to override any of those issues? As the reader becomes more acquainted with Rebecca’s story, one will better understand her upsets, fears, and hesitations regarding embarking on an entirely new chapter--one that will ultimately alter her and her son's life.

Daniel King does what he can to assist those within his community. In fact, his presence seems ever near whenever someone might be in trouble—this is a fact Rebecca comes to believe but hesitates to follow. Why does he go above and beyond when it comes to working on her home? Especially, when she cannot pay him. This independent streak in Rebecca is something Daniel cannot comprehend, because the woman in front of him is not the Rebecca he once knew. However, he does know she is holding onto some deep, dark secret. A secret that must be too horrific to share—but how awful could it be? Daniel only wants to welcome her back but wonders if Rebecca will ever open her heart to his friendship.

This story is perfect for the summertime, because it is a lovely, light-hearted read—perfect for the beach. Even though there are few intense moments, truth and honor must prevail. I recommend checking out this new book by Marta Perry. Happy reading!

My review today is on the Love Inspired, The Wedding Quilt. This is the second book in the Brides of Lost Creek Series. Marta does such an excellent job on Amish stories. This book is well written, heart warming, and full of faith. You are going to love this one.

Widow Rebecca Mast returns to her families home. Her marriage had been a struggle. She and her son were going to start over. She's determined to be independent and not lean on anyone not even her family. Her dream is to start a quilt shop so she can support herself and her son. She contacts a childhood friend to do the carpentry work. Her brother-in-law refuses to pay for the farm he bought from her now her dream is dead too.

Daniel King is a carpenter. He is thrilled to be able to help Rebecca who was once his best friend. She and her son have obviously been deeply hurt. He wants to protect her and the boy. She soon notifies him she is unable to pay him so he must stop his work. Daniel manages to talk her into letting him continue. He didn't realize that in working for her he would lose his heart. Can he show her to trust again and lean on God and her family?

God has a plan for this little family, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.

Marta Perry is well-known for her romantic suspense books. So well-known, in fact, that many people don't realize she also writes exceptional Amish fiction. The Wedding Quilt Bride, book 2 in her Brides of Lost Creek series, ranks right up there with some of her best.

Rebecca Mast returns to Lost Creek with her young son, Elijah. Recently widowed, Rachel is having difficulty adjusting to her supportive family. She hides a secret concerning her marriage, and yet, almost everyone suspects something wasn't right.

When Rebecca hires carpenter Daniel King to help her build her dream - a quilt shop, he's equally determined to regain her friendship. Best friends as children, Daniel and Rebecca knew each other better than anyone else growing up. Seeing her deep distrust as a challenge, he tries first to drag her son out of his shell. Can he be the man they need when his own heart feels broken? Is it him she doesn't trust, or men in general? Or, is it her own judgement that she questions?

Perry broaches the subject of domestic abuse in the Amish church with a gentle hand. Readers will cheer as Rebecca and Lige regain their "spunk" while they bask in the love of her family. Readers who enjoy Amish fiction, will love this story. Once I started it, I raced to finish. I highly recommend!

`The Wedding Quilt Bride` is a Love Inspired inspirational romance book by author Marta Perry. The heroine, Rebecca Mast, returns to her childhood home after the death of her husband leaving her a widow with a 6-year-old son, Elijah.

Rebecca refuses to give up her independence, not wanting charity or someone working for her with no pay. She was depending on the sale of her farm, to her brother-in-law, to keep her afloat and able to pay her bills. All was going well until she receives a letter stating her brother-in-law couldn't pay the first month's payment.

The hero, Daniel King, blames himself that his younger brother left the Amish community and is living as an Englisher. After finding out his brother is alive and well Daniel wants to go find him and bring him back home. The lesson learned here is, "We can't keep people from following their own paths, no matter how much we love them." (pg# 81)

A quote I like is found on pages 151-152. It says, "Don't worry about tomorrow. Just do what God puts in front of you right now and leave the rest to Him."

I thought this was a well-written book, just long enough to tell the story.

When I chose The Wedding Quilt Bride by Marta Perry to kick off my Amish August series, I assumed that the book would be based on the typical idyllic Amish romance, but I was wrong! This book has a depth that I wasn't expecting, but quickly captured my heart, and seen as this is also the first book I have read by Marta Perry, but it quickly made me a fan for life.

Rebecca Mast had returned to Lost Creek with her son Lige (Elijah) after her husband died, but Rebecca was not the same young women she was when she left Lost Creek, she was determined to do everything on her own, without anyone making choices for her or her son, even if they are well-meaning, like her old childhood friend Daniel King.

But as you continue to read The Wedding Quilt Bride you'll learn all about Rebecca and Daniel's childhood friendship with the little flashbacks the author includes, which manages to make the story more full, you also learn about Rebecca and Lige's life in Ohio and see those who have gone through so much, learn to trust again.

The Wedding Quilt Bride is a wonderful story about finding your voice, your self-confidence, and trust in others. I found it was very well written and the story well paced, with depth and accuracy, which is why I give it 5 stars.
