“Orphan Hailee Annigan had to steal food to keep her two younger brothers fed. It wasn\u2019t an easy life, but she had to be strong for her brothers.<\/p>\n

Each day after her search for food, Hailee would return home and teach her brothers, not from textbooks, but from memories of what she had learned when her life had afforded her the luxury of being a student.<\/p>\n

At night, Hailee told her brothers the story of Moses in the Bible, even when she herself felt as though God had abandoned her.<\/p>\n

When her thievery landed her in a home for delinquent youngsters and separated her from her brothers, Hailee couldn\u2019t give up \u2013 she had to continue to be brave and strong, no matter what other unwelcome curveballs life threw her.<\/p>\n

Hailee Annigan is a fictional heroine in my novel, which takes place in 1893.<\/p>\n

But Hailee isn\u2019t so different from the millions of children living in orphanages or foster care systems in today\u2019s world. She\u2019s not so different than today\u2019s children \u2013 in the U.S. and beyond – who are driven to extreme measures just to survive.<\/p>\n

One day, Hailee encountered a woman brave enough to reach out to her and introduce her to the One who could change her life forever. Ella Fanshaw was a strong woman in every sense of the word \u2013 her faith, her character, and her compassion. And so, it is just like Ella that strong women today step forward to work with troubled children, take in a foster child, or adopt a child and give them a forever home.<\/p>\n

Orphan Hailee Annigan was a ragamuffin on the Cincinnati streets, stealing food to keep her two younger brothers fed. Her thievery landed her in a home for delinquent youngsters, where her life was changed. Now, nineteen-year-old Hailee excitedly heads to Montana to be a teacher, yet she’s plagued by her shameful past and the fear of never seeing her brothers again.<\/p>\n

Based on his upbringing in high-society Boston, no one would have guessed that Nate Adams would attend seminary and become a pastor in rugged Montana. Yet, Nate’s parents refuse to put aside their own plans for his future and accept his calling.<\/p>\n

When their paths converge, an immediate attraction draws Hailee and Nate together, even as the pressures and demands of others pull them apart. Can the unlikely pair come to terms with their pasts and face the future together?”–Penny<\/p>\n

Penny Zeller is the author of several books and numerous magazine articles. She is an active volunteer in her community and devotes her time to assisting and nurturing women and children into a closer relationship with Christ.\u00a0Hailee is the final book in the Montana Skies series, which began with McKenzie and Kaydie. When she’s not writing, Penny enjoys spending time with her family and camping, hiking, canoeing, and playing volleyball. <\/span>
