We discussed the 1st fruit of the spirit, love, last month &amp; discussed the question, does love demand forgiveness. http:\/\/booksbylyncote.com\/SWBS\/a-fruit-of-the-spirit\/what-is-love ?<\/p>\n<p>Now we approach the second fruit, joy.<\/p>\n<p>I often hear discussions about how joy isn&#8217;t happiness so let&#8217;s not go over the well worked ground.<\/p>\n<p>When I think of joy, the song I sang as a child plays in my mind. Do you remember singing: &#8220;The joy of the Lord is my strength&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>The video above is a different song than the one I sang as a child. Here are the first two verses of it:<br \/>\nThe joy of the LORD is my strength<br \/>\nThe joy of the LORD is my strength<br \/>\nThe joy of the LORD is my strength<br \/>\nOh, the joy of the LORD is my strength.<\/p>\n<p>He gives me living water and I thrist no more<br \/>\nHe gives me living water and I thrist no more<br \/>\nHe gives me living water and I thrist no more<br \/>\nFor the joy of the LORD is my strength&#8221;<br \/>\n(From <a href=\"http:\/\/gospelyrics.blogspot.com\/2007\/09\/joy-of-lord-is-my-strength.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/gospelyrics.blogspot.com\/2007\/09\/joy-of-lord-is-my-strength.htm<\/a>l)<\/p>\n<p>The scripture it&#8217;s taken from is Nehemiah 8: 9-10:<\/p>\n<p>Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, \u201cThis day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep.\u201d For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.<\/p>\n<p>10 Nehemiah said, \u201cGo and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But what does that mean? What do you think &#8220;the joy of the Lord is your strength&#8221; means?
