Lyn Asks the September Question — 4 Comments

  1. Several decades ago, our three children and I had moved into a small apartment in SC while we waited for my husband to finish a remote tour to Iceland. He was going to be gone for a year so I tried to keep all the bills paid and the children cared for while I also worked part time at a local Christian school. There I met a young student whose father had left him, his mom and four siblings because the dad wanted to be free to pursue his own dreams. Tommy (not his real name) was in seventh grade and was the oldest. He stayed after class to request prayer that God would help them get Christmas gifts for his younger siblings. The youngest was only a toddler and he didn’t ask for anything for himself, just a nice Christmas for his brother and sisters since everyone was so sad about their dad leaving. I prayed with him there and continued to pray for him and his family. A few weeks later, I got the news that the apartment complex had had a contest for all those who paid their rent on time and I won $500. I was still pondering what I would be able to do with the extra cash when God nudged me to give it to Tommy’s family. I did so anonymously through the principal of the school. Tommy stayed after class one day and told me tearfully that someone had helped his family with cash and his mom would use part of it for Christmas. He was amazed that God had heard his prayers. And I was tearful myself because I knew for certain that it was a Godwink. The Lord put me there and used me to bless a family in need and I was blessed by unexpectedly having the money to help.

  2. I have a friend who is always helping people. Those she knows and those she doesn’t. Nothing is too big or small for her. From making sandwiches for workers after a tornado to painting her friend’s house. She doesn’t need to be asked. She just knows what is needed. I think God is nudging her. She is a wonderful person.
