My guest today is Love Inspired Historical author Mary Moore who guested last year with her award-winning first romance, The Aristocrat’s Lady. Today I’m going to ask her two questions and then she will offer a chance to win her latest book, Beauty in Disguise. Here’s the interview.
Tell us a little about your writing and your real life.
My real life is made up of my husband, Craig, and our lab, Darcy. We live in southwestern VA, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s beautiful in every season! My husband retired from the Veterans hospital last year and I recently left my part-time job so we could enjoy retirement together and, hopefully, have more time to devote to writing. We’re very active in our church and we have tons of family all over the US.
I’ve been writing for almost 20 years, but being an author still feels very new! I became a Regency fanatic almost 40 years, and I feel so blessed to be able write and sell my own. I’m so thankful to my family and their support, and God led me to the greatest agent, Jenni Burke. She’s really helped me to hone my work and to find a good home for it. My goal is to be able to make writing a ministry and my favorite thing is to hear from readers who tell me a book has touched their life in some way.
Was there a time in your life when you think God challenged you to become stronger? Please share.
I’ve talked, of course, about being a breast cancer survivor, but I had another serious struggle with my health many years before that. Actually, it was a combination of things but basically it took two years to diagnose that I had Lupus. In The Aristocrat’s Lady, I drew Lady Nicole’s struggle with doctors from that experience. Feeling so badly and not being able to figure out how to treat the symptoms for so long was really, really hard. You wouldn’t believe what a compassionate husband I have. When diagnosed with cancer, we could immediately see that God had used that time to prepare us for the even bigger battle we would face. But He got us through both of them!:–Mary

Book Blurb:
After her scandalous first Season, Lady Kathryn needs a new beginning. Concealing her stunning hair and sapphire eyes beneath a dowdy façade, she’s grateful to earn her keep as companion, Kate Montgomery. Until she comes face-to-face with her past in Lord Dalton, the only man she has ever loved.
The debutante Dalton fell in love with years ago was beautiful beyond compare. The gentle, mysterious young woman he encounters at a country house has qualities he now values more highly-until he learns of her deception. Kate has broken his heart not once, but twice.
Can faith help him see that love, like true beauty, always comes to light?
To enter the drawing for a chance to win this book, please share a few words of hope for those who are struggling with pain or illness today. You can offer the scripture you cling to in times of trouble also.
Here’s mine: God is never far from us. His strenght is always available for us. –Lyn

I remember being in pain in high school one time and the song that went over and over in my head was Praise the Lord. Sometimes that’s the only think one can do.
Praise the Lord
When you’re up against a struggle that shatters all your dreams
And your hopes have been cruelly crushed by Satan’s manifested schemes
And you feel the urge within you to submit to earthly fears
Don’t let the faith you’re standing in, seem to disappear
Praise the Lord, He can work through those who praise Him
Praise the Lord, for our God inhabits praise
Praise the Lord, for the chains that seems to bind you
Serve only to remind you that they drop powerless behind you
When you praise Him
Now Satan is a liar and he wants to make us think, that we are paupers
When he knows himself we’re children of the King
So lift up the mighty shield of faith for the battle must be won
We know that Jesus Christ has risen so the work’s already done.
Songwriters: Brown Bannister, Mike Hudson
Sylvia, that is awesome, I so wish I could hear the tune. The words don’t seem familiar to me. I’m am always so awed when someone can recite the words of a verse in the midst of the situation. I am so bad a memorizing, but I have been so thankful when that particular verse or song that I HAVE memorized comes into my head at just the right time. Thank you for sharing your gift from God to help you cope.
Wow, we just don’t realize how many of us out there share the same experiences. We not can sympathize with each other we can truly empathize! Our hope is in heaven when we will have our perfected bodies and no more tears. But while we are still here, we can share our tears knowing God counts every single one of them
I want to thank you ladies for stopping by today, and feeling free enough to share your own troubles. This blog has truly been an inspiration to me. Thanks, Lyn for inviting me.
Hey, Mary. Here’s a YT clip of The Imperials singing “Praise the Lord”.

I have struggled with health issues for over 2 years and we still don’t have answers. When I’m troubled because of the unknown, the only thing that truly puts my mind at rest is to put my thoughts on Christ.
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3
Oh, Lisa, I will hold you up in prayer. Do you know what I started to do during those years when there was no answer but life was so hard. I decided, ok, God I’ll learn whatever You are teaching me as fast as I can to get out of this. I bought study books for my quiet time to help me not just read, but learn, what was being taught. Soon my quiet time got to be one hour long…I was going to find out…then it was an hour and a half-every day. And when they finally diagnosed me with Lupus I realized God just wanted me to get close to Him…I may not know the why on this side of heaven, but I need to stay close to Him no matter what. God bless you, Lisa.
Thank you for your encouragement Mary. Unknowns can become thought monopolizing if we let them. It’s a great encouragement to hear you say you spent more and more time with Jesus. That’s a safe and very healthy place to be. I am doing the same.
Blessings,
Lisa
The cover is beautiful, and the book sounds like a great read. Thanks for having the giveaway. Remember that you are not alone. As well as speaking to God make sure you have someone that you can confide in.
I love the cover, too. I’m so glad it is getting positive comments! My real family is sort of scattered around the country and not near, but I had/have two wonderful church families that I will never forget because of their caring concern. They are such a blessing to me.
God is always by your side and listens to your every prayer!
It’s the only thing we can count on, isn’t it?
Liz,
God bless you! Yay 2 years cancer free, as well! You know you are doing a wonderful thing. I’ve promised God that through the next trial, despite how I am feeling, there is always someone else worse off and I can still help them. I didn’t do that very well when I was going through the cancer treatments. You’re an inspiration to me!
In Him,
Mary
Best wishes for your most recent book.
Two-years cancer free, I still go to a cancer support group of men and women determined to find joy in even their hardest days.
Hi Mary
I love to read historical books so am happy to be in the drawing for your book, thanks for sharing today with Lyn of your home and writing.
I think there are many wonderful verses that give hope in the Bible but the Psalms is always a help when I feel down or have problems that need extra help…
Paula O
