Lyn Reviews Miranda James’ Something Whiskered
Something Whiskered by Miranda James

3 1/2 Stars–DANGER: WHEN EDITORS NO LONGER EDIT– I’ve noticed that many NYTime bestselling authors after many books, suffer from this problem. I’ve read this series, love Charlie and his Maine Coon cat Diesel and Helen Louise and Azalea and all the rest of the characters in and around this small southern college town. HOWEVER, this is the first time that at the end that 2 plot twists in the murder mystery were not “tied up.” No explanation of why the culprit would have done these actions or how. That was disappointing because these two twists actually did not “click” with the murderer’s skill set. This happened to Lillian Jackson Braun’s series of THE CAT WHO (Qwilleran) mysteries. They declined until the final book in the series was just a collection of Qwilleran letters and just a whisper of a mystery, a sad end to a wonderful series. I think the publisher thinks–“they’ll sell anyway and every library will buy them so…” So please, Miranda, insist your editor do the edits!
