Do you Enjoy Real History

or What Hollywood Dreamed up?

The April Question is: Do you enjoy reading and “learning” about the true history of the West? I love doing historical research. (I have a Master’s Degree in American history.) I love reading eye witness accounts of actual events and digging into what really happened, not what Hollywood “dreamed up.” How about you? Do you have any pet peeves about this? I have some!  Please leave your pet peeves here–ie, what have you seen on the screen you thought could not be accurate?.

Tease: Did you know that from 1821 to 1846 that Texas was

  1. a Spanish colony
  2. part of the Mexican Republic
  3. a sovereign nation and finally
  4. part of the USA!

That many changes in such a short span of time gives my characters A LOT to survive and thrive through.I can’t wait to take you on the journey  life and loves of the people of Texas—all of them in my series, LONE STAR COURAGE. –Lyn

  1. Well, I hope my historical novels won’t disappoint you. I like to make real history exciting because it was!:-)

  2. I enjoy reading stories about the old west but not so much about the actual history. My pet peeve is that most history books are boring.
