Lyn Asks the FIRST 2025 QUESTION! — 20 Comments

  1. Winter is unpredictable in northwest Mississippi. The part I dislike is when it gets so cold that our pond freezes over and I have to take a sledge hammer to break the ice for my horse to be able to get water. Fortunately, this doesn’t happen too often but one year I had to break ice on the pond for two weeks. I will be 70 in less than a month and it is getting harder for me each year. By the way, my horse is 30 and I have had her since she was 2.

  3. In Ontario, Canada, winter can come and go weekly and sometimes daily. I prefer it when it’s fully winter! I love the snow and wish it would continue falling without taking a break. Unfortunately, the weather can warm up between snowfalls, making it feel more like spring. If I had my way, we would have winter until September, then the leaves would change and the snow would start again. But that’s just my preference. Happy winter, and happy holidays!????

  4. Winter in northern Wisconsin is typically very cold and brings lots of snow. Because I have fibromyalgia I don’t feel great most days. However, I do enjoy the beauty of winter (from inside my warm home) and I do like to shovel the walkway. I am reminded that ” though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be white as snow”. I often listen to “May Jesus Christ be praised” on YouTube by Aaron Shust. The best perspective in winter!

  5. We have a mild winter where I live. I don’t enjoy the cold weather so that is ok by me. I do however like to see the occasional snow fall.

  6. I live in Arkansas and we rarely get snow in the part I live in. So far this week our temperature have in the 60’s to the High 40’s. I really don’t like it when it is real cold or rainy which is what we are having this week.

  7. Winter is cold with always a possibility of snow and lots of rain. We generally have the fireplace on and we have a woodstove as well which keeps us warm throughout the day. We were both born in California but in 1996 moved to Washington when my husband received a job. Finally bought our first home and have stayed here since. We try to go down to California once a year to visit family and friends.

  8. Winter in Vancouver WA this year has been more rain and cooler. Love the weather terms of atmospheric River or bomb cyclone for rain storms.
Rainy weather drags on until April or so which I don’t like. Plus side the lawn is green but no mowing until spring and flowers come out in January at Fred Meyer stores!!

  9. Winter in the Chicago suburbs is really a mixed bag of “guess what today will be” The weather man is seldom right. but we start out with a lot of rain/cold days/colder nights. we may get some snow flurries. come january/february, we will get a lot of snow/cold/wind. sometimes it will go into March, sometimes not.

  10. We moved to Florida from Pennsylvania to take care of my parents in 2016. Both of them have passed now (Mom – 2017 and Dad 2023) and we have decided to stay as the winters are mild or somewhat mild. We don’t get below freezing where we live, but since we have lived in Florida eight years now 60 feels cold. We get into the 40s in January but it’s still better than the 10s or 20s and no snow!! We are in PA for Christmas with the family and its chilly, but tolerable. The cold here is different than the cold near the water. I think the water makes the temperatures seem more extreme – summer is more humid and winter is chillier with the dampness.

  11. Winter in Ontario, Canada can be a real mixed bag of things to love and things to dislike. We love the fresh beauty of new fallen snow, and the playground it creates. Much less popular are unexpected ( ok, or expected) bouts with ice and freezing rain! Dangerous, challenging and sometimes just don’t leave the house kind of weather. Keep those boot spikes handy, and make the most of it.

  12. Winter in northern New Mexico could be anything! It could be feet of snow, or no snow at all. It could be below freezing, or it could be in the 50s or 60s. Either way, you can expect spicy New Mexican food smothered with red, green, or Christmas (red & green together) chile, & wood fires (piñon pine smells AMAZING!), & farolitos lining roofs & walkways all over town during Christmas. It’s a really special place!

  13. I have lived in Michigan most of my life. In 70+ years have had all kinds of weather – polar Vortex with – 80 windchill. Snow and no snow. Survived the blizzard of 1968, 1978, 2013 – with records amount of snow – over 150 inches. When snow piles in parking lots were as high as lamp posts and didn’t melt til July. A disadvantage living near Lake Michigan is the winter gloom. This year we have had icy conditions. I don’t mind driving in snow, but definitely not on ice. Being retired I no longer need to go out in inclement weather. Now being in my 70s, I don’t want to fall and break a hip, leg, arm on the ice. Don’t mind cold – but during Polar Vortex afraid of loosing power or the furnace going out. When the weather outside is frightful, the indoors is delightful. Happy Holidays.

  14. Well it is 72 today where I live near San Diego, CA. Nice and sunny out.. I was born in Colorado so I do not miss the snow and winter weather we had there. I am a sun lover.

  15. Winter is cold in MN. I live in Duluth next to Lake Superior where the wind can be rough depending on direction of wind. Last year we didn’t have as much snow as we usually do. Depending on where you live in Duluth can be a factor in how much snow you get. I love the first snow fall when it is all white after that it is when is the snow going to go away.

  16. Winters in Carroll County, Virginia have been mild the last few winters with several days of bitter cold and windy then several days of warm and sunny. We have had a lot of snow in the past. I don’t mind the snow if I can stay at home as long as we don’t have a power outage. I like it cold better than hot.

  17. I live in Northern MN. I enjoy the snow, but don’t enjoy driving on icy roads in the winter. I guess I enjoy a milder winter, without the frigid cold weather 🙂

I would love to win the book!

  18. We live in Florida so the weather is usually really nice for Christmas and Chanukah. We have a small celebration since my children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren all live in other states. We make sure that our dog Miss Sara has plenty of things to keep her busy while we do whatever we are going to do that day. We love it here since it is almost always warm if not hot and we have no snow but we have rain and hurricanes.

  19. Winter in Wayne County, Ohio doesn’t “set in” like the winters I experienced growing up in MN. The winters have fluctuated; I worked for the county in Special Education; most winters we got a few snow days; one winter we didn’t get any! (had a couple of delays, but no closings) Another year we had so many snow days that we had to make them up on 3-4 Saturdays! And, so far this year, there hasn’t been a prediction for snowstorms for the next few weeks…

  20. For First Question 2025:
Winter here so far in my little PA town/Borough is very cold, windy, rainy but no snow yet at least not snow that covers roads, ground and driveways the ground is literally saturated
Hope I win the print book
