Don’t Miss Yummy July Recipes! — 5 Comments

  1. I love the crockpot! Crockpot and summer go together very well! The kitchen stays clean and cool. Dinnner is ready in anywhere from 2-8 hours! I usually use two crockpots. One with the main meal and the other with dessert.(desserts spelled backwards is stressed)and what better way to desolve stress but to have dinner on the table in little time and effort! A person can drop something in the pot and come back a couple of hours later to a complete meal. One of my favorite recipes for dessert is as follows:
    Crockpot Fruit Cobbler
1 can of fruit pie filling
    1 box yellow cake mix
    1/2 cup of nuts
    1 stick of butter/margarine
Dump pie filling in crockpot. combine cake mix and butter/margarine and crumble onto the filling. Sprinkle with nuts and cover. Bake on low 2 1/2 hours on low. Serve warm with ice cream.

  2. I had 4 picky eaters to raise one would want 1 thing and the other something else. but since we are empty nesters I am the pickey eater, and I don't like to spend a long time in the kitchen for 2 old people. We like bbq and it is so easy,
I cook at whole chicken, and stew beef, (or vinsion) or use pork insead of chicken.
    or use all three.
I cook these in my presto pressure cooker and then put into a collender and let drain and cool. Take all off bones and chop in a food processer adding the seasons of your choice and your bbq sauce and chop as small as you wish. I use the processor bowl as my serving dish, not many dishes to wash.
Have hamburger buns and make sandwiches or use as a main chorse.
We like cole slaw with ours and that is the meal. So good and so simple.

  4. When I was little I was the worlds fussiest eater. I didn't like anything!! Mom had a really hard time getting me to eat and I was always very tiny besides.

One day she made what has become known as Sandy's Soup which became a big hit and it's been shared far and wide.

Boil a soup bone (with meat) until tender (I simmer this for hours). Add salt, pepper and onion while cooking. I add a couple beef bouilion cubes to the pot for a nice beefy taste.

When nearing tender add one package of carrots cut up however you like to do them. Add more onion if you prefer and add 1 green pepper cut up into chucks. Continue cooking until everything is the tenderness you desire.

In a separate pot cook white rice. When the soup pot contents are done, add the rice to that pot and you're done.
