Lyn Reviews Author Valerie Hansen’s Nightwatch & Book Giveaway — 7 Comments

  1. I haven’t read any Love Inspired Suspense books yet but I do have a couple on my shelf that I am very much looking forward to.

I like a little romance with my suspense, Agatha Christie and Mary Stewart are perfect examples of what I enjoy the most.
    Blessings!

  3. I have read a few and know that I enjoy them, but it’s been quite a while and I don’t remember the titles.

  4. My most recent LIS read was Guard Duty by Sharon Dunn, which is book #3 of the Texas K-9 series. Note: Valerie Hansen has book #4 of that series. Coincidence? 🙂

Guard Duty focuses on rookie K-9 officer Valerie Salgado (another Valerie? I’m detecting a theme…lol). She unknowningly spotted a murderer leaving the scene of the crime. Though she can’t identify the person by name, the killer isn’t taking the chance she might be able to point the killer out later putting both Valerie and her young niece in jeopardy. Enter FBI agent Trevor Lewis who, in exchange for her help on his case investigating the death of his rookie partner, offers protection.

I love these types of books since it puts people in stressful situations while still allowing them to keep (or discover/rediscover) their faith. Couples can explore a relationship without having to sacrifice their morals. Inspirational suspense is a genre I’ve only dedicatedly followed for the last year or so but it’s definitely one I enjoy.

Thanks for the awesome giveaway and review of Nightwatch.

  5. That’s all right, Andrew. Some people like romance with their suspense–some like it romance free!

  6. Hmmm … I have not actually read anything with the Love Inspired Suspense stamp on it. I’m trying to think if I’ve read anything recently that would qualify under that umbrella in a lower-case sort of way …

uh, no, not really. Gritty suspense. Cozies. spy thrillers. Even a couple of paranormals for a change of pace. BUT nothing that would fit under both sides of the label at the same time!
