The Christmas Quilt by Vanetta Chapman charmed me with her believable and endearing characters, Leah and Belinda and their husbands. I am not a person who reads a lot of Amish novels, but the cover intrigued me and I’m glad I decided to read it. Vanetta’s voice as an author is so readable that I felt comfortable right away in her story. The Christian content also flowed with story and felt so natural.

The only element I wished Vanetta had spent more time on was the romance between the single mother storekeeper Rachel Zook and the older man she began to care for. That was prominent at the beginning but was mentioned almost in passing at the end. I wanted to know why the woman changed so. IN FACT, I WOULD HAVE ENJOYED A WHOLE BOOK ABOUT RACHEL!

Except for that, I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys Amish romance or sweet romance in general.

  3. I enjoy Vanetta’s books but haven’t read this one. I started reading Amish fiction after visiting Amish country. I like reading about the lifestyle and remembering my trips there. The food is amazing! However, I don’t know if I would be able to live the lifestyle myself.

  4. I really enjoy Amish romances because they tend to be clean and focus around a more laid back lifestyle. (Less rush and no electronic gadgets to interfere.)

    I love reading Vannetta’s books but have not read this one yet..just maybe she added little about Rachel because she plans a book about her and wanted to pique our imagination…I am the way you are and want to know more sometimes about the characters I read about.

  8. I enjoy reading any Amish genre book, including Amish romance. I enjoy reading about what we consider a “simple life”, even though we don’t stop to think that there is nothing simple about the Amish life at all. We tend to romanticize living the “plain” life, however, most of us could not stand the rigors of living this kind of life. I do still like to place myself in the settings of the Amish books I read and romanticize away. I would love to read this book! Thanks for the opportunity to win it!
