Lyn Reviews Rhys Bowen’s Twelve Clues of Christmas
The Twelve Clues of Christmas by Rhys Bowen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was my first Rhys Bowen mystery. I LOVED IT! It’s a historical set in the 1930’s,one of my favorite eras. Remember THE THIN MAN movies? The heroine is 33rd in line to the throne but is impovrished after the 1929 crash. Great period piece and a “novel” mystery idea. If you love wit and historical detail and a good mystery, try it!

Lyn Asks Do Opposites Attract?
My upcoming book, Only Her Heart, starts a series titled: “Opposites Attract.” So that kicks off this April’s question–Do you think that’s true?
In Only Her Heart, Annie and Jack are true opposites. Here’s the tagline for the book.
What will it take for a clueless computer genius to notice the loving woman at the desk beside him?
And the tagline for the series:
Four unlikely couples find opposites do attract even in the shadow of mystery~
Do you know a couple that are obviously in this category–opposites?
I do. In fact, my husband and I are the prototypes for the well-organized take-charge woman of words and the quiet man who thinks in numbers. No one would have put us together, and we have celebrated over thirty years together.
HOWEVER~
Was it true of you and your husband or sweetheart or did it go very wrong?
As usual, I will be randomly drawing a few commenters to receive a free Kindle ebook. So please share!-Lyn
Lyn Reviews Angela C Castillo’s Secondhand Secrets
Secondhand Secrets by Angela C. Castillo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I have never read an Angela Castillo book before and was pleasantly surprised. So many of these books that have the young woman moving away from the big city to the small town of her family are cookie-cutter. This book was not. The heroine was believable and fresh as was her hero. The small town of Wimber, TX also developed as a distinct “personality” and the many other shop owners were varied and quirky but again believable. I enjoyed the “villainess”, the nosey Vera and the plot of the hidden “treasure.” So I recommend this book to those who enjoy a sweet romance with an interesting mystery.
Lyn Reviews R. Allen Chappell’s Navajo Autumn
Navajo Autumn by R. Allen Chappell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I was always a fan of Tony Hillerman. It was with a little hesitance that I downloaded this book but I was happy I did. The setting of the Navajo Reservation was familiar but this wasn’t a pale imitation. Without copying Hillerman’s style or characters, this book had the same authentic “feel.” The characters were definitely Navajo but also human with very real flaws and strengths. The plot was also sound and I liked that it ended on a hopeful note. Justice had been done. The cosmic balance restored with the defeat of evil.

Tell Me About Your Winter and Perhaps Win an Ebook for Your KIndle
Here is the view from my front windows, looking out at the frozen lake. What does it look like outside your window in winter? Are the hibiscus blooming? Or is your view similar to mine? What do you enjoy doing in winter? Is it different than what you do in summer or the same? I wish I could say that I enjoyed winter sports-snowshoeing, cross country skiing, but I don’t. My winter sport is watching the snow fall, sitting by the fire (which I bring the wood in for!) and making rich delicious soups.
I usually make my soups by “taste” not recipe, but when we visited a local restaurant and ate their Creamy Chicken and Artichoke Soup, I had to have the recipe. Here’s the recipe link. Another way I cheer up my indoor winter is with snowmen! I don’t know why but the little guys with their cheery expressions make me smile. I have a collection of around twenty–all different sizes and construction that I put around the house. They make me smile! Here’s the grouping on my kitchen table. Don’t they make you smile?

So tell me about your winter. And if you have a kindle, you might win a gift code to one of my ebooks. OK?–Lyn
Lyn Reviews Marta Perry’s The Promised Amish Bride
4 Stars out of 5
The Promised Amish Bride by Marta Perry
Again I want you to know that Marta Perry is a dear friend, but that doesn’t mean I can’t write and honest review. An honestly this was another of Marta’s lovely, sweet but realistic Amish stories.
I say honest because unlike many “Amish” authors, she doesn’t sugar-coat the Amish. Her Amish characters are not perfect. They are flawed people who are trying to live a life pleasing to the Ordnung. Aaron “jumped the fence.” If you read Amish, you know what that means. 🙂 And now he has come home uncertain of his welcome.
Right away he meets the little girl who long ago had a crush on him in school. But now she’s Teacher Sally and a match for him in more ways than one. A story of family misunderstandings, pain and blessed reconciliation.

What’s the Most Romantic Book You’ve Ever Read?
What’s the Most Romantic Book You’ve Ever Read? Which and Why?
I’ve read many romances over the years, starting in high school with the late Georgette Heyer. These are three of my favorites of hers. A twentieth century author, she “invented” the Regency Romance. I’ve read and re-read many of her romances. I think THE GRAND SOPHY is about my favorite and think it would make an amazing movie! Why doesn’t some smarty in Hollywood do that? ‘-) SO WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ROMANCE EITHER A BOOK OR TYPE? LIKE RANCH STORIES? HISTORICALS? AND WHICH ONE OR ONES ARE YOUR FAVES?–Lyn
