Lyn Reviews A Christmas Mystery in Venice…

booksbylyncote.com Posted on January 20, 2024 by Lyn CoteJanuary 20, 2024

A Christmas Mystery in Venice and Other Winter Tales : 3 Short Stories (The Homeswappers)A Christmas Mystery in Venice and Other Winter Tales : 3 Short Stories by Adriana Licio
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A delightful collection of three short stories featuring the basset hound, Leon and his to bipeds: Dora and Etta. Each setting was charming and distinctive, and each story intriguing and a bit finger nail biting. A great collection. A light holiday read!

Lyn Asks the January 2024 Question!

booksbylyncote.com Posted on December 11, 2023 by Lyn CoteDecember 10, 2023

Our January Question will not be about New Year’s Resolutions!

I’m surprising you with a spring-summer-ish question to brighten January! (Or it might be apropos if you live farther south than I do. ‘-)

What kind of garden do you have—casual, formal, floral or mostly veggie? What plants to you favor? (Mine is presently under snow–but I remember!:-)

My upcoming February contemporary sweet romance, KAT’S STRICTLY BUSINESS PARTNER, the final book in “The Preacher’s Daughters”series is about a young woman who inherits a garden nursery and is vexed to need a business partner! So let’s start thinking green!

Kat's Strictly Business Partner

Well, hope you all enjoy Christmas and New Year’s and keep safe!—Lyn

(My late cats, V-8 and Tricksy, lying on my lap in front of the tree. I miss them.)

Lyn Reviews Richard Houston’s A View to Die For

booksbylyncote.com Posted on November 16, 2023 by Lyn CoteNovember 16, 2023

A View to Die For (To Die For #1)A View to Die For by Richard Houston
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I hadn’t realized that I had read two other books in the “to die for” series. The cover is dominated by a large, shaggy dog, not like the Disney classic, just a big furry canine. Anyway, that’s Fred who does not have a point of view and it’s just a big, lovable pet. The cast of characters are definitely not the kind of people I usually hang around with, and I had sympathy for the hero, amateur detective, since he WAS able to think logically. I understood why he moved away from his family! Anyway, very twisty Turny plot with plenty of red herrings, and a fun dog!

Christmas balls and greenery.jpb

Are there any Christmas books that you have read as an adult or read or were read to you when you were a child that you recall or still enjoy?

I have written four Christmas stories:

Mistletoe and Sage

Mistletoe and Sage

Loving Winter,

Beneath Northern Lights

Mavis’s Forever Christmas

If you haven’t read these, you might want to add them to your holiday reading list. Also my friend Roxanne Rustand has a new holiday novella on pre-order HOLIDAY PUPPY: a Christian Christmas romantic suspense. Take a look!

Lyn Asks the November Question

booksbylyncote.com Posted on October 7, 2023 by Lyn CoteOctober 7, 2023

Out My Window-Fall

What’s the November question, you ask? Well, let’s have a bit of fun.

Do you have a fond childhood memory of Halloween or fall in general you’d like to share?

I know many people don’t like all the gruesome and dark things that are now a part of Halloween. I don’t like them either. I won’t even watch Halloween Baking Championship and I watch all the other holiday baking shows. But everything they bake for the HBC is disgusting or revolting looking. I wouldn’t touch it much less eat it. UGH.

But I do have happy memories of cheerful trick or treating as a child and with my children. So anything you’d like to share—funny or heartwarming?–Lyn

Contempt Cover Front

Grandma BB, (I love that photo!) the unofficial matriarch of the Jamieson clan, is getting her house in order for the perfect homegoing celebration. After all, she’s eighty-something.

She summons Parke Jamieson VI, his brothers, cousins, and their families to play a part in the practice funeral program—only if they follow her instructions to the letter.

Since the Jamiesons are at her house with bodyguards Chip and Dale, they might have an impromptu family game night.

The evening is full of surprises, especially when an unexpected visitor shows up to steal the show. With more work that needs to be done, Grandma BB plans to put her funeral on hold and stick around for a couple more generations.
