May I Introduce a friend and excellent author-Jean C Gordon?

booksbylyncote.com Posted on March 10, 2023 by Lyn CoteMarch 10, 2023

Writing is a natural extension of my love of reading. From that day in first grade when I realized t-h-e was the word “the,” I’ve been reading everything I can put my hands on. I started reading and writing romances as a diversion from my day job writing about technical financial topics and was soon hooked.

My college-sweetheart husband and I tried the city life in Los Angeles for a couple years. But we quickly returned home to our native small-town Upstate New York, where I set a lot of my stories, including my new release, Her Very Own Champion, Book 5 in my Paradise Lake Sweet Romance series. We share a 180 year-old farmhouse just south of Albany, NY, with our daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, and a menagerie of pets. Our son lives nearby. While I creates small-town sweet romance stories, my family grows organic fruits and vegetables and tends the livestock de jour.

She’s never had a champion before. She doesn’t need one now.

High school history teacher Becca Norton is too sensible to expect a fairy tale life with a knight in shining armor. But she never dreamed she’d be on her own, a divorced single mother fighting for her kids, her home, and her heart. The last thing she needs is a reformed bad boy on a vintage motorcycle “rescuing” her. And taking her breath away.

Motocross champion and local bad-boy-made-good Jared Donnelly is back in Paradox Lake. He’s here to give back to his hometown and polish up the tarnished Donnelly family name. With a motocross school to give needed guidance and encouragement to troubled kids like himself, he doesn’t have time for a romance with Becca. She was out of his reach in high school, and with the even more complications of single motherhood, she should be off limits now. Except he can’t deny the attraction when old flames fan hot. What starts as simple attraction becomes a complex battle for a happy ever after Jared never knew he wanted so bad.

Jared’s hitting too close to home for Becca, with the proximity of his school and the growing connection between Jared and her son. It doesn’t matter that Jared’s kindness to her and the kids melts her long-frozen heart. She can handle her life and family just fine. She should be pumping the breaks with him, especially considering the brewing trouble with her inlaws over custody of her kids and the bad blood with the Donnellys. No good can come of tangling with the town bad boy, no matter how much he’s reformed. Her heart, however, has other plans and is fighting for the happy ending and all the fairy tale feels love has to offer. How high will the price tag be, and is she ready to pay?

Could the best way for Jared to show his love for Becca be to walk away from her and Paradox Lake or to stay and fight—winner takes all? Find out in this engaging small-town sweet romance with a hint of historical family intrigue.

FATAL WINTERI live in the Northwoods of Wisconsin just south of Lake Superior so very close to Canada. Within a 50 mile radius of our home are over 2000 glacial lakes; hence it’s called the Lakeland area—figures right? And I live in a forest between two national forests. We got trees!

In the summer we are blessed with temperatures between 75 and 85 every day and very low humidity. (Infrequently the temps will climb to the low 90’s but rarely lasts longer than a day or two.) The usual temps last sometimes well into the fall and then, of course comes winter. With winter comes that cold, white, fluffy stuff—snow!

Our town is a tourist town in summer and winter, too. Snowmobile trails criss-cross our counties. Other winter sports such as dog-sledding races, cross-country skiing, and even downhill skiing attract visitors. And yes, the weathermen here get excited when snow is predicted—especially big snow. Personally I’m not a winter sports person. I always say my winter sport is watching the snow fall, which I enjoy very much! So are you a snow fan or not? Leave a comment and perhaps win an ebook.

Thursday is the last day of my February 99c sale of Fatal Winter.

A page-turning work! Bookstore owner Sylvie and detective Ridge share a painful history — but when they discover the dead body of Sylvie’s cousin, they have no choice but to work together to unravel the truth…And in the process, can they find the faith to love and  heal? Why miss this suspenseful northwoods romance by USA Today Bestselling author Lyn Cote?

What Readers Say:

“I loved this book that is exhilarating with murders, robberies, assaults, and romance for Sylvie and Ridge. It was nonstop action from beginning to end and a great addition to the Northern Shore Intrigue series. Each book is a standalone with no cliffhanger, and I highly recommend this book. Lyn Cote is one of my favorite authors because she keeps you wondering up until the end who the suspect is.”

“Winter’s Fury-A great page turner which I loved! This story has both mystery and romance in spades. The characters are strong in their positions whether they are right or wrong. Sylvie and Ridge have a strong connection, but Ridge has trouble communicating his true feelings. There are layers of things going on. This book is well thought out and worth every moment of your time!”

So what’s your vote-snow yes or snow no and why? Leave a comment and win an ebook (first 5 commenters.)—Lyn Cote

A Brand New Book by a Friend Merrillee Whren!

booksbylyncote.com Posted on February 6, 2023 by Lyn CoteFebruary 6, 2023

Next I have a BRAND NEW books by an author, MERRILLEE WHREN, I’ve knowN and admired for year. I would like to tell you about today that I highly recommend.

Merrillee seated head shot - Web

I’m Merrillee Whren, an award-winning author of contemporary Christian romance. I love happy endings. That’s why I write romance. When I started writing many years ago, one of my goals was to write a novel set in each of the eleven states where I have lived. That’s right—11!

My new release—available for pre-order until February 7th—is set in Georgia, where I lived for nine years and where I first wrote something for publication, although it took me many years to get a publishing contract. I have fond memories of those years and the great family neighborhood we lived in, where I started seriously playing tennis, which I still play today nearly forty years later. One of the things I remembered from our time in Georgia is a ministry there that served older adults and had children’s homes.

When I got the idea for The Village of Hope series, I thought of that ministry. I also have friends who served many years at a children’s home in Oklahoma. I expanded on those ministries to create The Village of Hope, a multifaceted ministry, a place that provides hope, love, and a helping hand for those in need. James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” This verse fits The Village of Hope perfectly.

My new release, Melody’s Resolve, is the third book in The Village of Hope series.

Kav's Best Reads Blog logoFebruary’s Question is the subject line. I’m hoping to find another new author! Need more books! (yes, I have a serious reading problem.:-) I am reading as usual cozy mysteries which are mysteries that are not full of violence but often deal with murder and have amateur sluice trying to help the police —whether the police want it or not! I guess I like to see the guilty exposed and justice done. So  What’re you readin’?

Yet before love can bloom, both adults must work through a winter of heart-healing as family secrets and past disappointments come unraveled. Will they both give love a second chance? Click here for more info.

Lyn Reviews Alyssa Maxwell’s A MOST MALICIOUS MURDER!

booksbylyncote.com Posted on January 15, 2023 by Lyn CoteJanuary 15, 2023

Murder Most Malicious (A Lady & Lady's Maid Mystery, #1)Murder Most Malicious by Alyssa Maxwell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was the first book I had read by this author, Alyssa Maxwell. She is an excellent author. Great descriptions, wonderful unique characters, a dastardly murder or should I say a most malicious murder. I love Phoebe and her maid Eva. The only thing is–I am used to a story that moves more quickly. That was my only complaint. It was an intriguing mystery with two wonderful amateur sleuths, Phoebe and Eva, and a wonderful setting. I do enjoy the post World War I era since that was the true beginning of the 20th century. So I’m happy I read it but I wish it moved as quickly as I like books too but that’s just my hangup!.

2022 Christmas Scavenger Hunt Round-Robin: Mavis’s Forever Christmas

booksbylyncote.com Posted on December 4, 2022 by Lyn CoteDecember 5, 2022

scavenger hunt books2Another fun scavenger hunt

and lots of new Christmas books to investigate.

Merry Christmas! Welcome to the Christmas Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt! START MONDAY DEC 5TH~

Here’s how it works: At each author’s blog post, you will find a question that can be answered by checking out the free Amazon preview of their book. Provide the answer at this form.

Note: You must answer the questions for every author in the round -robin to be considered

to win the $200 first place,

$100 second place

or $75 third place Amazon gift cards. These prizes are USD values.

If you are not a U.S. resident, you will get a gift card from the Amazon store for your country; however, it will be valued at these USD amounts.)

At the end of my post is a link to the next blog, who will provide a link to the next blog, etc., to the very end, creating a circle (a round-robin) visit through all of the authors’ blogs. I think that sounds like FUN! And I think the generous prizes are worth trying for!

Now here’s the scoop about my Christmas story Mavis’s Forever Christmas.

Mavis's Forever Christmas

Is falling in love only for the young?

Never married, Mavis, a retired college librarian, has made a new life for herself near her “adopted” niece Ellie. Over a year ago, John lost his wife, who was Mavis’s best friend for nearly forty years. He has spent the intervening time traveling with his trailer. When Ellie faces complications of a difficult pregnancy, John and Mavis pull together to help her and her family. But new feelings and attraction come unexpectedly, surprising them both. Is falling in love a betrayal of a wife or best friend?

I had a lot of fun writing this book with a stray dog and puppies and a family pulling together in a stressful time. Aren’t those the times that pull us together as much as the happy times?

The question you need to discover by going to Amazon and clicking this link to my book. There just above the cover, it wil say LOOK INSIDE. Click those words and the book will open. (This doesn’t cost anything) Begin reading until you find out: WHO IS KERRY ANN? That’s the answer you need to find. (See below for Look Inside.)

When you have the answer, FILL OUT THIS FORM and head on to the next blog!

Thank you so much for visiting! The next author on the tour is my friend Winnie Griggs, who is telling us all about her Christmas book His Christmas Matchmaker. You can find it at this link. Remember that the round-robin will end on December 11th at 11:59 PM EST! I hope you have fun with this and win!–Lyn
