booksbylyncote.com Posted on December 4, 2022 by Lyn CoteDecember 5, 2022

scavenger hunt books2Another fun scavenger hunt

and lots of new Christmas books to investigate.

Merry Christmas! Welcome to the Christmas Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt! START MONDAY DEC 5TH~

Here’s how it works: At each author’s blog post, you will find a question that can be answered by checking out the free Amazon preview of their book. Provide the answer at this form.

Note: You must answer the questions for every author in the round -robin to be considered

to win the $200 first place,

$100 second place

or $75 third place Amazon gift cards. These prizes are USD values.

If you are not a U.S. resident, you will get a gift card from the Amazon store for your country; however, it will be valued at these USD amounts.)

At the end of my post is a link to the next blog, who will provide a link to the next blog, etc., to the very end, creating a circle (a round-robin) visit through all of the authors’ blogs. I think that sounds like FUN! And I think the generous prizes are worth trying for!

Now here’s the scoop about my Christmas story Mavis’s Forever Christmas.

Mavis's Forever Christmas

Is falling in love only for the young?

Never married, Mavis, a retired college librarian, has made a new life for herself near her “adopted” niece Ellie. Over a year ago, John lost his wife, who was Mavis’s best friend for nearly forty years. He has spent the intervening time traveling with his trailer. When Ellie faces complications of a difficult pregnancy, John and Mavis pull together to help her and her family. But new feelings and attraction come unexpectedly, surprising them both. Is falling in love a betrayal of a wife or best friend?

I had a lot of fun writing this book with a stray dog and puppies and a family pulling together in a stressful time. Aren’t those the times that pull us together as much as the happy times?

The question you need to discover by going to Amazon and clicking this link to my book. There just above the cover, it wil say LOOK INSIDE. Click those words and the book will open. (This doesn’t cost anything) Begin reading until you find out: WHO IS KERRY ANN? That’s the answer you need to find. (See below for Look Inside.)

When you have the answer, FILL OUT THIS FORM and head on to the next blog!

Thank you so much for visiting! The next author on the tour is my friend Winnie Griggs, who is telling us all about her Christmas book His Christmas Matchmaker. You can find it at this link. Remember that the round-robin will end on December 11th at 11:59 PM EST! I hope you have fun with this and win!–Lyn

HAD TO BE YOU
 ENDS THE 15TH!

A young small town girl finds herself in the shadowy world of WWII espionage~

Coming of age in the deep Depression, Bette faces a troubled world. Her parents have taken in Gretel, a Jewish girl her same age sent by her family from Nazi Germany. In the KKK South this is met with animosity. As she finishes high school, Bette falls in love with a young man who applauds her family’s decision. The two become informally engaged and Bette dreams of a future as a wife and mother with him, clipping recipes and living the quiet life.

But Hitler and others who seek world domination interfere with her plans. As her fiance attends college in Georgetown, she works as a secretary in the War Department. And that job leads her into the murky world of espionage. The US, Canada and England have banded together to foil German spies working to gain American military secrets. Bette never considered being a spy even in her wildest dreams. But she will do anything to stop these enemies, those who are persecuting Gretel’s family. But after swearing an oath, she can tell no one–not even the man she loves.

The Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor. War crashes over them all and again Bette and her fiance are separated. And another man enters her life, one who works with her to foil Hitler. A man she resists but who won’t take no for an answer. When the war ends, which will she choose–the young man she fell in love with as a girl or the man who taught her how to be a spy?

The Carlyle Women-four generations,

each facing the challenges of her time

and each harboring her own painful secret~

Lyn Asks the December Question

MAVIS'S FOREVER CHRISTMAS

Ornmanet cat

Now for Decembers question. I hope you aren’t bored by the saga of my two little kitty brothers, but they have definitely impacted our Christmas plans. I told my husband we don’t dare have a Christmas tree this year. They are climbers! Fortunately I have a small ceramic tree that lights up and that will have to do this Christmas. When I was a child, one of our cats decided that when the house was quiet and we were all asleep it was his chance—

TO CLIMB THE CHRISTMAS TREE.

He did it three nights in a row, tumbling the tree and crashing all the glass ornaments. The next morning my mother twisted a cup hook into the wall and tied a slender rope which she secured to the cuphook and the tree trunk. Problem solved; the cat continued to climb the tree but without incident. I don’t think this would work with our little boys since they would want to tear every ornament off and chew it around, chase it, throw it in the air and lose it. So do you have a pet Christmas story,? Please share yours. I will choose a few commenters and offer them a free ebook. I love animal stories!-Lyn

Lyn Asks the September Question

booksbylyncote.com Posted on August 23, 2022 by Lyn CoteAugust 25, 2022

Well, no, my grade schools didn’t look like that! I’m not THAT OLD! But every fall I think of school. Of course, we all do! The stores are full of pens, pencils, paper and a whole lot more! School has changed since we went. Computers have changed everything except for the fact that students are all kids. And kids will be kids.

One of my fondest memories of school is my third grade crush at Glen Flora School. Oh, my, Benji had the cutest curly blond hair. And I knew he liked me because he would stand in line behind or in front of me. And he’d look at me, grin and then fall straight the floor—not faint, just fall like a tree.

Oh, Mrs. Johnson didn’t like this! But I was so impressed. Fortunately Glen Flora was an older school and had wooden floors or Benji might have gotten a concussion all for love of me. ‘-)

So what do you remember? Please share a fond memory from your school days. Did you have a sweetheart in grade school? A favorite teacher? A fun game on the playground? Can any of you recall one of those jump-rope chants? I can’t!

I’ll give an ebook to one commenter.–Lyn

Remember Ellie’s Forever Family is on sale throught Sept 2nd for 99 cents!

Ellie's Forever Family

BridgesBridges by Deborah Raney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I always enjoy a Deborah Raney book. Her Women’s Fiction tackles the problems of modern life that make relationships challenging. What is most prominent to me about BRIDGES is that the characters are so REAL, nothing contrived. Deb has a talent for this and it’s at its zenith in BRIDGES. Tess and JW are two humans who’ve been battered by life but have soldiered on. Both are mature so this is a Later in Life romance and I love these because romance is not just for the young. Well, I’m not going to retell the story. I will merely recommend that if you want a story of families trying to work things out and a lovely, very real romance, you can’t go wrong with BRIDGES. PS: Having lived in Iowa (the setting) for nearly 20 years, I guessed JW’s real name easily, but I’m not telling!!
